I've been playing, performing and recording music professionally for 50 years. I graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Jazz Performance on bass in 1978, toured with Buddy Rich and Blood Sweat & Tears in the 80's and have a certificate in Database Design from Columbia University in NYC. I owned a popular demo studio in Brooklyn NY in the 80's and was privileged to record many up and coming artists in the days of tape. I was co-founder of Dr.T's Music Software in 1985, and developed one of the first computer music software programs. After selling the company in the mid-90's I joined Harmonix Music Systems, the company that developed the award winning Guitar Hero video game program, as Executive Producer. I moved to the White Mountains of New Hampshire in 1997 and in 2005 I opened Clever Sounds Studio. Besides running Clever Sounds, I still play in numberous bands in New Hampshire and Maine.
Clever Sounds features a comfortable Control Room looking out into a 500 sq ft Main Room with 12' angled ceiling and an beautiful view into the natural environment beyond. It has a great sound and is a very comfortable environment for both recording and mixing. The Main Room is large enough to accommodate a 4 or 5 member band, but warm and beautiful enough to make a solo artist feel right at home. The control room area has been acoustically treated and the music that comes out of here sounds good anywhere.
All recording is through a16-channel Antelope Audio Orion Studio interface, running Pro Tools 12 on a late 2013 Macintosh (trashcan), using a Steven Slate Raven MTi touch screen and a 32" Apple Cinema Display. I have a wide variety of plugins from Slate, Waves and UAD. You have access to a number of high-end microphones including a vintage1976 Neumann U87, a variety of vintage and modern analog gear, and the kind of instruments you would expect from a high-end studio. I also have several GoPro video cameras and can provide video recording of sessions and/or in-studio performances. I also have realationships with many world-class musicians should you need additional players to flesh-out your songs.
